The student will learn to identify what is and is not a good tone quality, what influences tone quality (positively and negatively), the skills necessary to develop the ideal tone quality, and then how to maintain good tone while learning new skills.  
The student will practice the concepts as modeled by the instructor and written on class worksheets.

 The teacher has over 3 decades of experience as a beginning band instructor and private brass instrument teacher.  He performs on both the trumpet and trombone.

A written assignment
Daily practice (30 minutes a day, 5 days per week), which includes practice for regular school band program.

The student will be given a progress report after the final session.  Recommendations will be made to proceed to the next course, repeat the course, or to pursue tutoring with the instructor.

The teacher wrote and updated his own curriculum for this course.  He also supplies a list of videos on Youtube of professional trumpet players.  The videos have been screened to be age and content appropriate.
