What will be taught?
This 7-week history course will teach about the early colonial period, starting with the Lost Colony of Roanoke and ending with the formation of the Thirteen Colonies.

How is your class structured?
The class is structured to meet online once per week for 14 weeks, with each session lasting one hour. Each week focuses on a specific topic related to early colonial history, with integrated English Language Arts (ELA) components such as reading comprehension, writing activities, and creative projects.

How will you teach?
I will teach using a mix of interactive lessons, multimedia resources, and hands-on activities. Students will engage with Blood on the River as a historical fiction text and analyze primary sources to deepen their understanding. Creative assignments such as writing journal entries and designing colonial maps will help reinforce key concepts.

They’ll create a timeline of events and a mock social media post reflecting the Roanoke settlers’ last moments.
