Time for German 104 - Becoming a German Speaker

How do I help my Time for German 103 students become actual confident German speakers? This course is the answer.

Time for German 104 uses similar methods to my previous courses but at a higher level than 103. As well as the usual handouts and activities provided a few days before each lesson, this course includes a video which is a German monologue relating to the lesson (and previous lessons in the course) which is then repeated in English afterwards. Transcripts will be provided in case students want to follow along and even use to help create their own monologues.

Students are encouraged to watch this video several times before each lesson and once they get used to it, I recommend that they just watch the German version (the first half) and be amazed at how much they understand. This is all provided with the ultimate goal of students creating their own monologues. They are welcome to record themselves speaking German for over a minute and send me the recording. As these lesson are 5 minutes longer than my other courses, students will also be given the opportunity to practise their monologues after each Nearpod quiz at the end of the lessons. A couple of recording weeks may actually be built into the course to encourage independent work and making and sending me recordings. 

My daughter is currently in 103 so when designing this course I considered what my daughter and other students will realistically do every week outside of German class. I think watching the video several times and doing an activity on the sheet is realistic and for those students who wish to accelerate their learning, creating and performing a German monologue would be the next level. 

After the course the children should be able to speak independently about a variety of topics outside of the classroom. Furthermore, you can still watch all of the recordings after the course is over to reinforce all of the learning done in class. 

***New to Time for German?***
If you have not done one of my previous 'Time for German' courses but still have a good grasp of basic German, then this course could still be for you. If you are willing to read the handouts and complete the provided activities, then please message me before enrolling and I will be able to advise whether '101', '102' or '103' would be suitable.

***Behaviour***
I have high expectations of behaviour. As an Outschool parent, I understand how frustrating it can be when one child spoils the lesson for the other children. I go over my expectations at the start of the lesson but my main rules are putting you hand up when you want to speak and not excessively playing with filters and emojis.
