Time for German 103 - Beginner to Intermediate World Languages Course: Version 2 - Verb Focus Verbs are the building blocks of a language and knowing how to use them effectively will enable leaners of a language to build sentences and communicate naturally. Graduates of 'Time for German 101 and 102' will already be familiar with some verbs such as 'sein', 'haben', 'spielen' and 'essen' and this is the ideal follow up course for those students or other beginners who now wish to take their German to the next level. While still incorporating many of the fun activities from the previous courses (including a nearpod quiz at the end of each lesson), in this course there will be a strong focus on manipulating verbs, sentence building and communication. To help you on this journey, throughout the course you will be joined by Aschenputtel (Cinderella), Rotkäppchen (Little Red Riding Hood), der Froschkönig (The Frog Prince) and Rumpelstiltskin and you need to watch out for Rumpelstiltskin - he can be a little bit cheeky! This course is more academic than '101' and '102' and to get the most out of it, students will need to read and study the vocabulary and verb conjugations before and after the class. A printable sheet containing all vocabulary for each lesson will be provided in the classroom a few days before each lesson starts so that the learning can continue outside of the classroom. Throughout my many years experience of teaching German, students have often said that my lessons were 'easy', despite the ambitious learning objectives of the lessons. In my previous school, I was the co-operative learning specialist and school lead, employing creative learning strategies and techniques to make my lessons more engaging, fun and co-operative. Throughout the course, I will use fun slides and activities to engage the students and learners will also be able to practise conversations with each other. The students will be asked to apply the vocabulary and sentence structures to their own lives (taking into account online safety of course) and I will ask lots of questions to build up the student's knowledge into functional sentences. Here is a brief summary of the verbs that each lesson of the course will focus on: Week 1 - sein (present and past), werden Week 2 - I can, I want, I will (and lots of other high frequency verbs) Week 3 - I may, I must, I should (and lots of other high frequency verbs) Week 4 - Coming and Going (gehen, kommen, wohnen, heißen) Week 5 - Around the World (reisen, bleiben, besuchen, fliegen) Week 6 - Escape from Liechtenstein Week 7 - Give that Back (geben, nehmen, brauchen, haben) Week 8 - Eating and Drinking (essen, trinken, lieben, hassen) Week 9 - The Aliens are Hungry (kochen, schmecken, möchten, mögen) Week 10 - Ich spreche Deutsch (sprechen, verstehen, fragen, antworten) Week 11 - Escape from Berlin Week 12 - Buying and Selling (kaufen, verkaufen, bekommen, bestellen) Week 13 - Around the House (finden, sehen, hören, fühlen) Week 14 - Things in the House (suchen, tragen, bringen, senden) Week 15 - What do you Think? (denken, glauben, wissen, sagen) Week 16 - An Alternative Rumpelstiltskin Tale After the course, students will have learnt to use over 50 of the most frequently used German verbs which will enable them to play with the language and create their own sentences. Furthermore, each lesson contains lots of extra vocabulary suited to the verbs being studied. For example, weeks 4 and 5 will refer to different destinations with a recap escape-style lesson on week 6, whereas weeks 8 and 9 will refer to lots of foods and drinks. On completion of all 16 lessons, your child may then want to take 'Version 1' of this course (if they haven't already done so), which is more reading-focussed and has lots of different vocabulary. Recommended course sequence: 1 - Time for German 101 (16 Lessons) 2 - Time for German 102 (16 Lessons) Then you will be ready for the '103 Track'. It does not matter in which order you do the following courses but this is the order that they will take place on the same day and in the same time slot. Just make you you book onto the follow-up course and complete all 48 lessons in 103: 3 - Time for German 103 - Beginner to Intermediate World Languages Course: Version 1 - Reading Focus (16 Lessons) 3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 1 - Rapunzel's Routine & Conjunctions (4 Lessons) 3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 2 - Hansel and Gretel (4 Lessons) 3 - Time for German 103 - Beginner to Intermediate World Languages Course: Version 2 - Verb Focus (16 Lessons) 3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 3 - Dornröschen and the Perfect Tense (4 Lessons) 3 - Time for German 103: Grimm German Grammar 4 - The Frog Prince (4 Lessons) ***New to Time for German?*** If you have not done one of my previous 'Time for German' courses but still have a good grasp of basic German, then this course could still be for you. If you are willing to read the handouts and complete the provided activities, then please message me before enrolling and I will be able to advise whether '101', '102' or '103' would be suitable. ***Behaviour*** I have high expectations of behaviour. As an Outschool parent, I understand how frustrating it can be when one child spoils the lesson for the other children. I go over my expectations at the start of the lesson but my main rules are putting you hand up when you want to speak and not excessively playing with filters and emojis.
学習到達目標
Every lesson the children will learn to use at least 3 of the most popular German verbs, enabling them to play with and create their own sentences. Furthermore, every lesson the students will learn lots of extra vocabulary suited to the verbs being studied.

For the Nearpod quiz near the end of each lesson, the learner should be able to access Nearpod on their web browser. I will send a link and a code for them to enter the quiz 5 minutes before the end of class for the quiz to take place in class. Learners can either simply click on the link or enter the code onto the Nearpod website. They do not need a Nearpod account for this.
In class, I will use slides that I have created myself using Canva. I will simply share my screen so that learners can see the relevant information and all of that information will also be on the handout I provide - which is also created using Canva. You do not need a Canva account.
受講に必要なもの
A document containing all of the vocabulary for each lesson will be provided and students should read it and complete the activities before or after the lesson. It would also be very helpful for the students to have the handout during the lesson so they can refer to this.
