I have taught many book studies in my professional career including The Witch of Blackbird Pond through private tutoring, classic novel choice courses, and public school education. I love taking part in discussions and ensuring that the students' needs and interests are met as they read which is why every project has personalized options. I also have a degree in Secondary Education - English, but I have a minor in Gender Studies and an emphasis in Gender Studies with Theory.

The novel covers several different sensitive topics including the misrepresentation of indigenous peoples, Black slaves, and women as seen in older societies. We will also look at the idea of discrimination based on race and ethnicity, gender, and even religion. During class, we will spend time discussing these misrepresentations and discuss why they are inappropriate. We will look at how these misrepresentations affect the story, history, and development of the United States as we see it today. Students are encouraged to ask questions and to reach out with any concerns that they have with the topics that we cover.
