I teach math. And other stuff. But mostly math.

I have a  Professional Educator license for the state of Utah and a Level 4 Math Endorsement. That’s a fancy way to explain that I took a LOT of math in college. I’m qualified to teach a variety of dance styles and I’m a certified yoga teacher. Among other subjects, I have experience teaching history, geography, biology, creative writing,engineering, literature, music, physics, visual art, and as I might have previously mentioned: math. 

I try to weave STEM connections into every subject I teach. Engineering and dance? Absolutely! Science and art? You bet! Math and literature? Of course!

When I’m not teaching, I like to sing or dance. I also code and program. I sew, bake, craft. I rollerblade. I paint. I dabble in photography. Sometimes, when I have spare time, I solve logic puzzles. I also like to stay up late reading books. Occasionally, I even do calculus problems for fun. I LOVE math. Give me a chance and I’ll show you just how awesome math is!

What else? I play the piano, ukulele, recorder, violin and organ. I’ve tried the guitar and just started learning the harmonium. I’m rubbish at the conch shell but I could probably improve if I spent the time to practice. Most hard things in life are like that. Practice and persistence are all it takes.

It might be difficult to believe but math has never been easy for me. Even after all these years, I find it challenging. I still get problems wrong all the time. But it’s OK to mess up. Scientists and mathematicians and dancers and artists-- they fail all the time.Taking risks is an important part of life. My classes are a safe place for you to experiment, to stumble and to try again-- over and over until you succeed. And I’ll be right there with you, cheering you on.
