In this ongoing book club, The Cupcake Diaries, the students will be reading about life in middle school and making new friends. Katie Brown meets three new friends and together they form their own club. Four friends plus cupcakes turns out to be the icing on the cake. The books will be split into two parts which will be nine chapters each week. We will come together to have discussions about the book, make predictions, ask and answer questions as well! *The student will work on developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, discussion, and thinking; oral language. *The student will work on developing comprehension skills by reading assigned texts, making predictions, making personal connections, and generate questions before, during and after reading. *The student will use text evidence to support an appropriate response. *The student will be able to describe the main character’s traits. *The student will be able to describe and understand the main events, the conflict, and the resolution.
*I am an experienced elementary/middle school teacher and reading specialist. Reading is my passion and I love inspiring reading in students of all ages!
*Cupcake Diaries books starting with book 1.
*Parents, I have chosen this set of books to get the students excited to read and discuss and that is appropriate for this age group. Please research each book on your own so you are comfortable with the content. As the parent or guardian, it is your role to make sure that the books are appropriate for your child as each child is different.
*The Cupcake Diaries by Coco Simon I found my books on Amazon. You can check out Target and/or your local library as well. :)
