First and most important, my classes are all taught in a highly safe manner with excellent expectation for the way all members of the class are treated and treat each other. Respect is our key.  This is a class on reading and study skills, but also in the correct environment, it can totally be fun and we will do that together.
**Please note there is a class requirement of 2 or more students per class in order to have the class.  
Materials used included FIgurative Language Materials and State Reading Test materials released for public use
As we practice skills from specific tests, which will be sent to you in pdf form prior to the class, students may use the materials either directly on the computer or a second screen, or print on paper to be able to practice strategies with highlighters, pens etc
Skills taught and reinforced:
Study SKills:  Reading skills for various types of writing, organization, using sources of info effectively, time management, active reading for details, dissecting questions to know what is being asked.
Reading Skills: Styles of reading including fiction, non-fiction, reference, information articles, poetry, effective use of reference materials, vocab. iin context, inferring, figurative language, summarizing, details, skimming/ scanning

Work will be assigned between classes so that one practice test is completed for three class meetings and the last class will be spend on figurative language.
