Each week we will learn a new syllable pattern, while reviewing specific spelling patterns which make up syllable parts. 

As an Orton-Gillingham instructor, I know the importance of learning ways to increase fluency in spelling and reading with multyisyllabic words. I have been working with children of various abilities and ages using this structured program.

Each week students will also be given words to practice, labeling, dividing, reading, and spelling. Students will also be asked to write a journal entry or paragraph about something of interest to the student. It is up to the student, as long as it is respectful, no politics, or any other controversial issues, please. Post writing in the classroom. 

Students must include:
• 3 words which follow that week’s pattern. 

•Remember to include appropriate punctuation and capitalization. 

Once students have posted an entry:
 
• Respond to another student’s entry. 

• Comment on the passage, respectfully. 

• Identify at least 3 words following the pattern from that week that the writer used.

Students will be assessed by in class observation and participation, as well as their homework. 

Did I label vowels and consonants?
Did I divide in the correct spot?
Did I read the words with fluency/automaticity?
Did I spell words with fluency/automaticity?
