BONUS FUN: Come prepared to share your favorite quote (profound or hilarious—both welcome!), memorable scene, or character that stuck with you. Sharing is optional but adds to our collective appreciation of the story! Reading Options: Traditional reading, audiobooks, parent read-alouds—however you experience the story is perfect! SECOND MEETING: MOVIE MAGIC & COMPARISON After experiencing The Giver (PG-13) on screen, we'll gather to compare visions: Did the characters match how you imagined them? How did the filmmakers bring the book's world to life? What scenes surprised you, delighted you, or left you wanting more? Which version captured your heart—page or screen? Viewing Options: Available for rent on Amazon and other platforms, free with HBO Max, or check your local library's resources! 💫 WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR MEETINGS 💫 Our roundtable discussions create space for everyone to shine! The book and the movie are recommended on Common Sense Media for ages 11+ mainly due to violence and some romantic thoughts. During a scene in Chapter 19, the main character sees his father kill a baby with a lethal injection because twins are not allowed in their community.

Students will need a copy of the book (or an audiobook) and access to the movie. Students can read the book, listen to an audiobook, or parents can read the book to their child.
