In this 9 week class, students will learn how to write an opinion piece consisting of three paragraphs: introduction, supporting details, and conclusion. We will write two final papers over the course of 9 weeks. Students will learn what an opinion is and how they can use adjectives, adverbs, linking words and supporting details to form a solid opinion that can persuade their readers. **See course syllabus for more details** This class is interactive style where students will have ample time to discuss their writing with the instructor. We will use teacher-created slides to go over each topic at the beginning of the lesson before writing independently. It is recommended that your child already know how to write sentences (including capitalization and punctuation rules) before taking this class. My name is Teacher Meg. I am so glad you're here!
I am excited to offer different types of classes including... but not limited to:
Pre-K/Kindergarten skills (ages 4-6), Sight Words Classes (ages 4-7), First Grade Phonics, Writing Sentences, English as a Second Language (ESL) **Private Tutoring & Group Conversational English practice, & Story Time/Art (elementary).
My Background:
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2012 from Barton College in North Carolina. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of Elementary Education K-5, Middle Grades Mathematics 6-9, and Special Education K-12. I also hold a TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate. I have 7 years of public school teaching experience. Currently, I am a Work-At-Home mom of two kids. I have been teaching online for the past 3 years, so I understand the importance of making students feel welcome and included in this setting.
My Philosophy:
I believe all children are capable of being successful, regardless of their backgrounds. I believe that every child has different strengths and can use their strengths to overcome their weaker areas. I also think that the more fun a child has, the more they will want to learn.

-I have a husband, a daughter, and a son. Both of my children enjoy taking classes on Outschool.
