During this class students will learn the most important thing I have learned in my 15 years of training in kung fu. Contrary to popular belief, it is not some special movement, it is learning to be aware of my surroundings.  To do this, I will introduce a game that will help to focus that awareness. Following this we will interactively discuss different scenarios involving stranger interaction. We will discuss the dos and don't s involved when dealing with people they do not know. There will be a very short video clip to re-enforce what they learn.  At the end of the class, we will do an activity that will involve a great deal of noise.  After-all, the last thing a kidnapper wants is to draw attention to themselves! In this activity I will be teaching them to yell with intention.  In other words, to not just yell to make a noise, but to let others know what is going on, and to draw as much attention to themselves as possible.
During this class, I encourage as much student participation as possible.  I encourage them to give me feedback, and discuss how they might handle different scenarios.
