In this camp, learners will be exposed to the engineering and design process (plan, create, test, improve) as they complete STEM challenges. Content areas, inclusive of: reading, writing, math and social studies, will be integrated throughout the week. Students will be presented with daily challenges and will be guided through the engineering and design process (EDP) as they work to solve the challenge. Learners will share their builds live on camera. The camp classes are structured as teacher facilitated with learners actively engaged in a hands-on manner to work through each challenge. I will be the coach in each class guiding learners as they plan, create, test their ideas and make changes to improve on their thinking. My teaching style is flexible, relaxed and engaging. I see myself as part of the learning environment providing a safe space for budding engineers to give it a go and accept a fail (First Attempt at Learning). Learners will engage with each other and the teacher in a fluid manner throughout the camp. They will share success, failure, and suggestions with each other. Challenges will change from camp to camp to provide variety of experiences for learners who choose to enroll more than once. Examples of challenges for this camp: Create a ramp that will help a toy car travel the farthest. Create Junkbots: Robots created from recycled items. 3D Shape Build Cup Stacking Challenge Craft Stick Houses Oobleck Volcanos Catapults Moon Cycles Foil Boats Index Card Buildings Specific challenges and material lists will be provided upon enrollment and will be posted in the classroom. Specific needs for adult guidance will be shared upon enrollment to ensure safety when materials such as scissors or pointy objects such as toothpicks are used.
学習到達目標
Learners can tell the steps of the engineering and design process.
Learners will use problem solving to work through challenges.
Learners will collaborate with others as they solve engineering challenges.

Adult guidance and supervision is recommended for all activities. Learners will use scissors, glue sticks, and materials such as chenille stems (pipe cleaners) and toothpicks which may have a pointed end. A space such as a table or floor is recommended for activity completion so learners have ample space for working. Additional specific guidance will be suggested as needed for daily activities in the classroom notes and verbally in class.
受講に必要なもの
Specific challenges for each camp along with material list will be shared in the classroom two weeks prior to the beginning of camp. If you enroll less than two weeks before camp the challenges and material list will be in the welcome message in the classroom.
