In this ongoing course, learners will meet each week to share, socialize, and learn to draw Squishmallows together! We'll start class with our hellos and how-are-yous, review the classroom rules, discuss the Squishmallows that we will be drawing that day, and then we'll get right to it! To ensure that I can respect you and your learners time, microphones may be muted during drawing and instruction time. However, they are welcome and highly encouraged to raise their hand to unmute at any time to ask a question or share their progress. I want to hear from you all along the way! I use a secondary camera to show my hand movements to better illustrate how to draw each step. I offer general drawing advice on shape and form as we progress. This helps learners understand not only how to draw one or two specific characters, but begins to build and strengthen their artistic ability in general. Please note that since this class is focused on drawing techniques, we generally will not have time to color in our drawings during class. Students are encouraged to bring their finished works of art to share at the start of the next session. I will always make time to help learners with individual questions and take the time needed to demonstrate a step again. Due to this, class may not always end in the same way. If time allows, we may practice coloring, outlining and details, or enjoy some real-life Squishmallow sharing. Each week we will draw two new Squishmallows. Our first drawing will often be a more simple design. Our second will be a little more complex. Who we will be drawing each week is often inspired by learner suggestions and varies from week to week. If you miss a session, the completed drawings will be posted in the classroom for your learner to reference. They are encouraged to bring them next time to share before we get started! ----------------------------------- Preparing for Class: Your learner can draw with any of their preferred drawing tools, but here is what I recommend to have on hand: - Two sheets of paper - Pencil and eraser - Dark crayon or marker for outlines - Colored pencils or crayons for coloring ----------------------------------- Notes: In order to respect everyone's time, class will always begin on time. I know that sometimes it is unavoidable, but I may not be able to go back show previous steps if your learner arrives late. Similarly, if your learner decides to redo their drawing, they will have to do their best to catch up on their own. If time allows, I can revisit earlier parts of the process at the end of class. Class recordings are provided as well, so learners can catch up on any parts that they missed. Unfortunately, I am unable to refund missed classes and no-shows. Please also be aware that unless your learner has been pre-verified by the Outschool Trust and Safety team, your webcam must be on for at least the first part of class. If I can't visually verify your learner's attendance via webcam, I have to remove them from the class. There are no exceptions to this rule and I will be unable to offer a refund.

Hello! I'm Joey and I'm excited to meet you. As a parent, I understand how vital early childhood education is. The fact that you are here, searching for the best instructor for your learners, means that you know how important it is too. I take this responsibility seriously, and work hard to provide individual attention and support to all of my students.
I've worked professionally as a software developer, as well as an adjunct college professor teaching introductory and advanced computer programming courses. My passions and class topics are wide ranging, from tabletop role-playing games to 3D modeling, astronomy, and art! To each of my classes I bring the same philosophy: that we truly grow when we connect what we learn to what is important to us. No matter if it's academic study or a social activity, I teach with the intention of inspiring students to make those connections and get excited about learning. I can't wait to see you in class!
