In this 6-week FLEX class, learners will use their love of Squishmallows, combined with their imaginations, to practice their writing skills. We will do a different activity each week, accessing different skills and different types of writing. This class is meant to motivate students to practice writing throughout the summer, about a topic that they love - Squishmallows! This class does not meet live. Students interact with myself and each other through postings in the platform classroom....
Learners will leave class more confident in their writing capabilities and will have continued writing throughout the summer.
I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 6th year of homeschooling and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art. Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues. I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also TESOL certified.

Homework will be assigned each week so that students can review and practice the skills that were learned in that week's class. This homework should take approximately 20-40 minutes per week. If students have questions regarding the homework, I encourage them to post in our classroom or message me directly, so that I can provide an explanation.
