This one on one class meets twice a week and will teach learners how to confidently sing stories. In each class students will learn a little about techniques such as breath control, diction, rhythm, confidence and storytelling through music. The main focus of this course is finding fun and joy in singing/rapping and celebrating each individual’s voice. I want learners to feel empowered to use their voice. Each student should walk away with a basic understanding of what breath control, diction, rhythm, confidence and storytelling are, and how to use them to tell a story through song.
I have over 20 years of experience building curricula, and arts programs along with teaching, writing, and performing professionally.
A pencil and paper is always welcome to take notes. And feel free to bring your own microphone, or your favorite hairbrush for karaoke time!
We will use Youtube karaoke videos to help students practice musicality and learn the lyrics of their songs. I will share my screen in class, and send links to learners to practice on their own.
We will use Youtube daily in order to learn music and lyrics.
