Like the world above ground, the soil is buzzing with life. Students will explore the soil food web and define each of the interactions that take place within its functioning system. Students will understand why the soil food web is so important to ecosystems and how it also influences soil health. Slides will be shown as we follow the flow of energy and nutrient cycling within each relationship and the organisms discussed throughout the class. Students will be hands on with soil in front of them. At the end of class, we will learn to build a wormery. A list of required materials is listed in the “supply list” section below.
