Week 1
Lesson 1
Day 1
Students will be re-introduced to soil from a microbiological point of view. Students will become familiar with carbon and understand its importance. We will define Earth's systems, past and present by creating a diagram through zoom. Students will investigate carbon cycling in plants. Students will get an up-close look at carbon sequestration as we learn about compost and how it can improve soil health. Students will help me build a compost pile live.
Lesson 2
Day 2
Students will explore regenerative agriculture and its 6 basic principles. We will compare and contrast soil building and soil depleting practices and examine which ones can improve food, feed soil, and benefit human health. Students will pin point ways in which we can positively impact the carbon cycle in our daily lives. We will end the course by exploring current studies and innovative ideas relating everything we’ve learned.
