This is a 4-week course. The classes start with 20 minutes of lectures in which the students will be given the information they need to cover the class objectives. Then the students will watch around 10 minutes of real footage of the experiments we covered. We will spend the remaining of class discussing the content, answering questions and extending as needed. Information is presented using a Power Point presentation. There are 2 optional assignments for this course. The assignments are designed to apply concepts learned in class. They are not graded, instead, the teacher will give individual feedback. Please refer to the syllabus for this class to review specific content that will be reviewed. Details about the assignments will be posted after enrollment. For sessions with only one student, it is possible class could end a few minutes ahead of schedule since there is less student to student discussion taking place.

Research Methods
This class reviews the principles of experiments with basic research methods. This includes what an experiment is, key concepts and how they are developed. We will create our own social experiment in class by dissecting the variables, potential differences to take into account and what results we may expect.

Theories
This class will explore behavioral theories using research methods learned last class. We will discuss famous experiments using this framework and the impact it had on the field of psychology to this day. We will focus on classical conditioning and watch videos of real experiments in this area.

Social Experiments
In this class we will discuss social experiments about authority and social pressure/conformity. We will also cover the bystander effect and self-fulfilling prophecy. We will view real footage of experiments covering these topics. Students will be encouraged to prepare discussion questions for the last class.

Ethics and Discussion
The fourth and last class is a discussion section of the material covered thus far including the ethics involved in those experiments. We will review how awareness of those findings can impact our behavior.

We will review sensitive topics related to social pressure resulting in inflicting harm to others, modifying behavior and ethical concerns. Other topics found in the experiments we will dissect include animal maltreatment. This includes videos of the actual experiments which touch on those topics. This class is suitable for more mature students. We will address the ethical issues that arise from those videos in our class .
