Hello! It is time to learn about money in this one-time class for 5-8 year olds! In this class, we will go over the basics of coins. We will discuss the names of each coin, features of each coin, we will also examine each coin and discuss what we observe about each one. We will talk about how much each coin is worth and we will begin counting by ones, fives, tens, and twenty-fives to count change. Toward the end of class, students will be ready to start counting by ones, fives, and possibly tens, and twenty-fives to count pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Throughout class I will be assessing which direction to take instruction. I believe meeting students where they are at academically is so important and it is paramount that learning be engaging, so we will be having fun in class! Please join me on this journey of identifying and counting coins! I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!

It would be helpful upon enrollment that students are familiar with how to count by fives and tens. Please print the handouts for use in class. Please also have students bring a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter to class. Thank you!
