This 8-week Serbian language course is designed for children aged 6-9, offering two live sessions per week. Throughout the course, students will engage with fun and interactive lessons tailored to young learners, focusing on practical language skills through games, songs, and creative activities. With 16 total classes, the course builds foundational knowledge of Serbian, progressing through key topics to help learners speak and understand the language in a supportive and engaging environment.
Each week focuses on one topic, with new vocabulary and simple sentences introduced in every class.
Lessons will include a mix of:
- Direct instruction- with visual aids (slides, worksheets)
- Games and activities to reinforce learning (e.g., role-playing, counting games)
- Songs and chants to help students memorize vocabulary
- Interactive tasks such as drawing or labeling activities
- Group discussions where students can practice speaking with one another
My teaching style is playful and engaging, combining a student-centered approach with interactive teaching methods. I focus on using multimedia (visuals, songs, and games) to keep children’s attention and make learning fun. Each lesson is designed to encourage speaking and participation, with plenty of opportunities for learners to practice new vocabulary in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.
This is a small-group course, allowing for plenty of one-on-one interaction with the instructor. Learners will also have opportunities to interact with each other through paired activities, group games, and class discussions. Active participation is encouraged, but shy students will be supported and not pressured to speak before they are ready.
No prior knowledge of Serbian is required for this course. It is designed for beginners with little to no exposure to the language. Children who enroll late in the course will be welcomed with a quick overview of what they’ve missed, and every effort will be made to integrate them into class activities from their first session.
The class moves at a beginner-friendly pace, with each week building on the previous one. Lessons are designed to be engaging and bite-sized, perfect for the short attention spans of younger learners. There will be a mix of active tasks (games, songs) and quiet tasks (drawing, speaking practice) to keep the energy balanced.
Students who join later in the course will not feel left behind. I will provide a brief introduction to the vocabulary and topics they missed and ensure they are included in all activities. Additional resources (worksheets or review materials) will be provided to help them catch up.
