Hello and Welcome. We are Groovy Learning, and this is Part 1 of 2 in the Beginner American Sign Language class. It is designed to help you understand the words and simple sentences. This class will focus on getting your child comfortable using their hands to communicate in American Sign Language. You don't need any prior knowledge of American Sign Language. We will learn words and simple sentences, between 20 and 50 signs each week. Each week, learners will interact by the following: Learners can ask any question on the classroom page. We will be using Kahoot https://kahoot.com or on videos. The video will be sent to me privately or on the classroom page, and I'll send feedback either privately or on the classroom page. I will post a sign on the classroom page each week to see if the learner knows the sign by commenting on the classroom page. Questions about Lessons can be sent privately or on the classroom page. We will also be using Kahoot for review from time to time. First, learners will need to complete the Kahoot assignment. After that, I will review Kahoot's answers with the learner and give feedback! I have successfully taught ASL programs in diverse local settings like preschools, private kindergartens, recreation centers, and libraries. As a parent of a Hard of Hearing child and an Outschool teacher, I recognize the significance of effective communication through signing.
