This is Semester 1 (out of two) for 2nd Grade Math. It is a complete, teacher-created course aligned carefully with the Common Core Standards. In this 18 week class students will receive instruction on all standards within "Numbers and Operations in Base Ten" & "Operations and Algebraic Thinking". Please see the class syllabus for pacing. After completing of this course, students can move to my Semester 2 class, where they will complete the remaining standards. Students will receive instruction in a lecture style but then will be given practice opportunities, both in class and at home. Each week students will receive classwork printouts, as well as homework which can be turned in for a numerical grade to check for understanding.

My name is Teacher Meg. I am so glad you're here!
I am excited to offer different types of classes including... but not limited to:
Pre-K/Kindergarten skills (ages 4-6), Sight Words Classes (ages 4-7), First Grade Phonics, Writing Sentences, English as a Second Language (ESL) **Private Tutoring & Group Conversational English practice, & Story Time/Art (elementary).
My Background:
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in 2012 from Barton College in North Carolina. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of Elementary Education K-5, Middle Grades Mathematics 6-9, and Special Education K-12. I also hold a TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate. I have 7 years of public school teaching experience. Currently, I am a Work-At-Home mom of two kids. I have been teaching online for the past 3 years, so I understand the importance of making students feel welcome and included in this setting.
My Philosophy:
I believe all children are capable of being successful, regardless of their backgrounds. I believe that every child has different strengths and can use their strengths to overcome their weaker areas. I also think that the more fun a child has, the more they will want to learn.

-I have a husband, a daughter, and a son. Both of my children enjoy taking classes on Outschool.
