In this class, assessments will primarily consist of personal assessments conducted by the teacher through observation of students during class sessions. These assessments serve to gauge each student's understanding, progress, and engagement with the material covered. Various types of assessments, such as coding exercises, project presentations, and participation in discussions, may be offered periodically to provide a comprehensive evaluation of students' learning. Assessments will typically be conducted in class to ensure real-time feedback and interaction. While participation in assessments is highly encouraged for all students to track their development and receive tailored support, they are not mandatory. However, engaging in assessments offers valuable insights and opportunities for growth, making them a beneficial aspect of the learning experience.この文章は自動翻訳されています

************This class is designed for those who have some experience using Scratch Jr. Not suggested for beginners. If this is your first time using Scratch Jr, please consider an Intro class or taking about 5 hours worth of coding in Scratch Jr in advance. ************ Come make an arcade game with me and have some fun! ScratchJr utilizes block programming to allow children to create their own imaginative stories and games. My style of teaching is very interactive and engaging. Each student will be able to share and express themselves as they feel comfortable. Each lesson will leave them excited to create projects using the coding knowledge they acquired in class. The curriculum focuses on building on students’ knowledge of ScratchJr in order to ease their transition into learning Scratch in future grades. This is one of the very few classes designed for grades K-3. The general outline will be as follows: Lesson 1: Graphic Design. We will use the paint editor to draw our own characters. Students will create the graphics for the controls. Lesson 2: Game Design. We will create the background for our game. The scene for "You Win" and the scene for "Game Over" Lesson 3: Programming. We will write the code to get our game going. In order to participate, each student will need 2 devices. One to watch the zoom call. The second device will be used to code on. This will be a WATCH & DO type class, where I will demonstrate, then students will do it themselves. Please download Scratch Jr in advance. ScratchJr is a free app available on iPads, Android tablets, and Chromebooks. Great teachers form strong relationships with their students by engaging them in the subjects they are passionate about. I have always been a logical thinker who enjoys science, math, technology, and engineering both for work and play.
I worked as an engineer for companies like Frito-Lay, Anheuser-Busch, Amgen as a consultant for many years improving their systems with automation and equipment. Once I became a parent, I began teaching extra-curricular classes as a way to have more time at home, but stay involved in subjects that bring me joy.
Realizing that by being warm, professional, and enthusiastic, I am able to engage students. My creative lessons and strong classroom presence help build student confidence while increasing interest in subjects that may otherwise seem intimidating.
