🌌 Blast Off into Space Coding! 🚀

In this 4-day camp, students will dive into the wonders of outer space and create their very own Space Lander game in Scratch! Over the course of this fun-filled camp, they’ll learn key coding concepts like variables, lists, and conditionals while exploring the mysteries of the galaxy! 🌠

Students will discover how to think like a game designer, create variables to control velocity, use lists to keep track of planets, and master conditionals to control their spaceship’s flight ✨. Advanced learners will even create their own gravity simulation! 🪐

This hands-on camp is designed for ages 8-12, and no prior coding experience is needed! With a class size capped at 6 students, each learner will receive personalized support from the teacher throughout the class. Expect a lot of interactive fun, questions, and feedback as everyone codes their projects together! 💻🎮

Class Breakdown:
Welcome & Introductions (5 minutes) 🌟

Space Theme Lesson (5 minutes) 🪐

Code Your Space Lander Game in Scratch (40 minutes) 🚀

Student Project Showcase & Goodbye (5 minutes) 🌠

What Your Student Will Need:
A free Scratch account: https://scratch.mit.edu/ 🌟

A laptop or desktop computer with Zoom and screen-sharing enabled 💻

A stable internet connection (3mbs+) 🌍

A working speaker, microphone, and webcam 📷🎤

Please have an adult nearby for the first 5 minutes to help set up and tackle troubleshooting. iPads and tablets are not compatible with this class. 🚫📱

Students will use Scratch to participate in class. Students must access the Scratch account using a laptop or a computer in class (no smartphone or tablets). Students will use their own Scratch account to code while following instructions from the teacher. Students may continue to use their Scratch account outside of class.

🚨 Note: iPads aren't recommended, but reach out if you need any assistance.
