Tablets and iPads don't always work properly with some of the games on Scratch. The device used for coding must have a keyboard. It is preferred that learners have a second monitor to view the instructor's screen shared through Outschool's Zoom. If that is not an option, resizing the Scratch window alongside Zoom will allow you to view both windows. **Students need to create a free, online Scratch account before meeting. A parent will need to confirm this account for the learner to be able to save their project. Https://scratch.mit.edu** Please message if you need assistance creating a Scratch account.

I have worked as an educator for over 27 years. I have taught learners from age 3 through age 16 in a variety of settings including public school, preschool, technology enrichment programs, computer coding classes, and robotics STEM camps. As a small farmer owner, I educate youth in homesteading and animal care. I have 2 amazing children with very different interests. My oldest is academically gifted. She is very in involved in art and music and currently following an educational path to become a veterinarian. My youngest is 2e. He is academically gifted and dyslexic. He is an athlete heavily involved in STEM, following an educational path to become a physicist. I originally came to the Outschool platform to search for classes for my kiddos. I was so impressed that I joined as an educator.
I have a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education grades 1-6 and Master Degree in Educational Technology and Research. I have been licensed to teach in Florida and North Carolina. I obtained additional certifications in teaching Gifted and Talented Students for grades K-12, Technology Endorsement grades K-12, and School Library Media Specialist grades K-12.
My teaching philosophy encompasses all learning styles. Classes will include time to explore content and practice application.
