Students will learn about nocturnal animals while participating in calendar, reading, math, spelling, and P.E activities. The nocturnal animals we will talk about are owls, bats, and raccoons. Various digital techniques will be used to enhance learning and to help keep the children engaged. I include a lot of material and information throughout the lesson. Some material might seem advanced, but I include it anyway. In my experience, 6 -8 year old learners are like learning sponges, able to absorb so much of what they hear as long as they are focused. We begin morning meeting with a song, calendar and weather discussion. Then we have two questions of the day, “What is nocturnal?” and “What are nocturnal animals?” We will talk about and count the nocturnal animals while learning new vocabulary words. We will also flap like bats. Our discussion of nocturnal animals continues with owls and their characteristics. Counting Cathy will share her snack with us, followed by math patterning and a discussion of raccoons. There is also an interactive raccoon puzzle learners can assemble together in class on the screen. Optional Materials: The two pintables attached to my welcome message on the classroom page where the start class button is located. One is a math pattern paper we will complete together in class and the other, a raccoon coloring sheet that can be completed after class. Schedule and What’s Happening 1. Morning Meeting/Greeting: Welcome, warm up song, calendar, weather, question of the day 2. Reading/Language Arts/Spelling: Read and answer questions about bats, raccoons, and owls; vocabulary development (nocturnal, mammal, prey, elongated, mischievous, echolocation, echo, pattern) , fine motor coordination, following directions 3. Math: counting, addition, subtraction, place value and patterning 4. Snack: Virtual on screen countable snack 5. Science: echolocation, echo, sense of sight, smell and hearing 6. P.E. move and flap like a bat This 55 minute class is one of the many 55 minute classes I teach. I also have a 55 minute Planets class, Camp Nuttin' But Fun! Telling Time to the Hour and Half Hour and a Nature, Acrostic Poem Adventure. Look for them if you are interested. ~Teacher Sharon :-)

Hello! My name is Sharon, Teacher Sharon. I am both thankful and excited to have this opportunity to help children from all over the world have fun while learning. I love making learning fun!
I have my Masters of Education (MEd) and over 20 years of experience teaching and learning from children of all ages. I have experience as a nursery school director, a Kid's Club supervisor (twice) and a classroom teacher for Pre-K through high school. I have also taught technology, after-school elementary science classes, cupcake decorating, and brick building.
I am very fortunate to have grown up overseas and have lived all over the world. Some of my many passions include creating fun, educational classes, scuba diving, traveling, science, crafting, my precious dog, cat, fish and snails and of course teaching.
I like to keep class sizes small to help learners engage and participate. If your child is interested in any of my classes that are not currently scheduled, or if a different time or day would work better for you, please feel free to contact me.
Learning in my classroom is engaging, energetic, fun, enjoyable, upbeat and entertaining. "Your child won't want to leave at the end of class and will beg to come back for more." (That's my superhero catch phrase.)
NOTE: I am very flexible with class scheduling. If you are interested in one of my classes, but you don't see it listed on a day or time that you want, please find a class that is already listed when you want the class. Send me a message and I will do my best to switch the class that you want with the one that is already listed.
I look forward to helping your child have fun while learning. Have a wonderful day,
~Teacher Sharon🙂
