Saturday Theatre Playhouse is designed to immerse your child in the world of theater through a variety of plays, from comedies to adventures and inspiring stories of courageous women and gutsy girls. Each month, we’ll focus on one play, allowing your child to explore their character, work on acting techniques, and understand the deeper themes of the story. The class will run for three Saturdays each month, with a fourth Saturday off, so that students can complete their performance and showcase their work.
Throughout the class, your child will:
• Develop stage presence and learn acting techniques.
• Improve speech and communication skills.
• Work on memorization, collaboration, and teamwork.
• Engage in fun, interactive activities to understand the play’s themes and characters.
The plays we’ll explore will help your child grow as a performer and build confidence while learning to express themselves in creative ways. Whether they’re performing in a classic, comedy, or fairy tale, your child will gain valuable skills that extend beyond the stage.
Class Schedule. It recurs as the SAME SCHEDULE each month as we work on a different play.
• FIRST WEEK: Introduction to the Play and Character Work
⪼Introduce the play’s plot, themes, and characters: Overview of the story, setting, and key events.
⪼Assign roles and begin script reading: Read through the play and start understanding characters' motivations.
⪼Explore basic acting techniques: Focus on voice, movement, and emotional expression to develop characters.
• SECOND WEEK: Rehearsals and Script Exploration
⪼Run through specific scenes: Focus on line delivery, pacing, and emotional beats.
⪼Work on memorization: Use repetition, scene partners, and visualization to improve recall.
⪼Discuss character depth: Explore backstory and physical/vocal expression to enhance portrayal.
• THIRD WEEK: Final Rehearsals and Performance Preparation
⪼Full run-through of the play: Focus on transitions, timing, and overall flow of the performance.
⪼Refine delivery and pacing: Work on smooth scene transitions and maintaining energy throughout.
⪼Prepare for technical aspects: Review how lighting, sound, and set design enhance the overall performance.
• FORTH WEEK: Reflection and Preparing for the Next Play
⪼Reflect on the performance: Discuss what worked well and areas for improvement.
⪼Provide constructive feedback: Give and receive feedback from classmates for growth.
⪼Introduce the next play: Begin exploring the new play's themes, characters, and potential roles.

Specific Expertise to Teach Saturday Theatre Playhouse:
I bring a wealth of experience and passion for the theater to my Saturday Theatre Playhouse class. I’ve written plays and screenplays, one of which, The King Sisters, was performed in six shows before an audience of over 1,000 at the McFarlin Auditorium on the campus of Southern Methodist University, funded by a grant from the Hoblitzelle Foundation. For more than 10 years, I directed two plays a year, performed by youth aged 6-18, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I’ve also produced videos, TV shows, and shorts for both professional and corporate clients.
Additionally, my daughter is an actress whom I have directed throughout her career. She has been seen in national commercials for brands such as Pizza Hut, Invisalign, AT&T, and Walmart, and has theater credits including playing Sandy in SpongeBob, The Musical and Woodstock in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. I am deeply passionate about theater and understand how it shapes confidence and success for those who pursue it—whether as a hobby or a life-long dream.

Hi, call me Miss Vikki! I teach a variety of classes designed to help you grow in the areas of reading, acting, performing, entertainment, and personal development. I offer classes like Dr. Seuss Reading Time, Getting Ready for Elementary, Middle School, and High School, Saturday Theatre Playhouse, Learning Monologues for Speaking Success, and Ideas-Action-Film. I truly value your talents and dreams, and I’m committed to helping you succeed.
In addition, I’m a certified substitute teacher, and through my experience, I’ve witnessed how a lack of reading and spelling skills can negatively affect a child’s self-esteem. When children don’t know how to read or spell, they often disengage and may act out, masking their frustration as rebellion. In my classes, I create a safe and supportive environment where students can learn, re-learn, and gain confidence so they can feel successful in and out of the classroom.
