週あたり 1-2 時間. Learners will have homework assignments nearly every week. From outline, to drafting, to submitting final copies, learners will engage in routine writing. I give feedback as needed. All learners are required to send drafts in 48-72 hours before class to receive informal feedback before final submission.
テスト
Learners will have two research essays due in this course. I assess each essay against a rubric that will be provided to learners before the final essay is due. I also provide personalized comments that praise learners for what was done well, and I identify one to three areas of opportunity for writing growth.

Welcome to "Research Writing for Advanced Writers," a comprehensive course designed to equip students with the essential skills required to produce high-quality academic research papers. This course is perfect for advanced middle and beginning high school students or anyone looking to enhance their academic writing abilities. Learning how to write a research paper is important because it develops critical thinking skills, teaches you how to effectively research and analyze information, allows you to communicate complex ideas clearly, and provides a foundation for contributing new knowledge to your field, all while honing essential skills like organization, citation, and proper academic writing style; making it a valuable tool for academic success.

I create an engaging learning environment for learners in which everyone feels comfortable discussing, sharing work and asking questions for clarification. I support my learners in idea creation, paragraph development, stylistic choices, revision and editing.

A typical class follows the following structure:

1. Lesson Introduction: 5 minutes
2. Guided Instruction: 10 minutes
3. Independent Writing Time: 30 minutes
4. Closing/Review: 5 minutes
5. Homework Assignment: 5 minutes

Expectations

All students are expected to be prepared for class.
All students should participate and ask questions during class for clarification.
Students should be respectful of all other students (muting backgrounds, keeping chats class related, etc.).
Students are expected to on track with class assignments and communicate with the teacher for extensions if needed.

Other Important Information

If a learner misses class, recordings will be available in the classroom. Please note that learners must attend one live class to have access to recordings. I will also provide the link to the class presentations. Homework is posted each week.

I encourage all learners to use Google Docs. This class requires each learner to do work inside class. Having learners use this technology and share the link with me during class allows me to ensure learners are actively working and assist in real time. Before enrolling, ensure your learner is able to be on Zoom and work in Google Docs simultaneously.
