In this one time class, we will begin by painting our hands red, yellow, orange or green, and making handprints on our paper(s). Please note that parent assistance will be required for this portion of class. If you would like to complete this step before class that is perfectly fine. Students will explore leaves through the life cycle of a maple leaf. Students will make their own "leaf" and draw veins on their leaf or leaves. Students will learn about the parts of a book. Students will practice pre-reading skills such as reading from left to right and top to bottom. Students will understand words represent a spoken word and convey a message. Students will answer simple questions about the story. Students will describe elements in a story, for example, characters and/or setting (time, place, and/or environment).
