We will use recognizable images from Star Wars to focus on letter sounds, phonics, and word building with CVC word families. Each student will get a chance to speak and to sound out and the words with gentle guidance. They will enjoy learning to read the CVC words together and we will sing a special song written by the teacher. We will also play a fun game of memory at the end of class where the students will try to find a match. The younger students will love it! Students can bring a Star Wars-related plush toy, characters, or other toys to class, as they will each have a chance to show and tell at the beginning of class.

Students will improve their phonics skills through word-building, reading CVC words, singing songs, playing an interactive game, and talking about their favorite Star Wars characters! Good for both native English speakers and ESL learners.

This helps beginning readers learn to read quickly and independently! My son was reading well before entering kindergarten. I loved volunteering weekly in both his kindergarten and first grade classrooms. I have a B.A. in English from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and I also earned a TESOL certificate from International Open Academy.
