このクラスで学べること

We will read and review books by Shel Silverstein beginning with:
"Where the Sidewalk Ends", "A light in the Attic", "Falling Up", and "The Missing Piece".
In these poems we will pause for group discussion regarding content and meaning, or questions to clarify meaning. Some poems will involve Q+A before and after to guess what t the kids think the poem will be about and then discuss after the poem is read.
I have flagged poems that I will not be reading due to content or illustrations.
Children will not need to read prior to meeting, nor will need any previous experience with poems.

During each class, we will meet together as a group and follow along as the teacher read from each book, beginning with "Where the Sidewalk Ends". Each class is typically able to cover 20-30 pages, depending on discussions regrading meanings, the illustrations role for the poem, as well as general interaction with the students. The teacher will present and have the book for display during the class section so that is is not necessary for students to purchase their own. However, those that have their own copy may be allowed to request reading and work on their pronunciation, waiting their turn, as well as speaking appropriately with their peers.

At the end of each class, we will keep our place and review our favorite poems from the day. At the next class meeting, the reading will pick up in the book read in the previous class meeting and continue until the end of the book and the next will begin.
学習到達目標
Student will gain critical thinking and learning deeper meanings to what could be interpreted from simple sentences.
They will also gain identification of rhyming words and be able to identify them as they are read aloud.

My educational background is in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis which is used for individuals with developmental delays, autism, and maladaptive behaviors. I also have a minor in Photography and enjoy using black and white film. I have a darkroom that allows me to develop my own film after taking pictures, and then use an enlarger to print on paper.
In my spare time, I love to spend time outdoors, stay active, and visit the lake as often as possible. One of her favorite hobbies is using her “green thumb” to grow a variety of plants, flowers, and garden foods.
