These sessions will focus on understanding, simplifying, and applying radicals and exponents. Guided Practice: Step-by-step examples to reinforce understanding. Student Practice: Worksheets, interactive problem-solving. Review & Assessment: Optional Homework. Key Objectives for Each Topic: 1. Understanding and Simplifying Radicals Define and explain the concept of square roots, cube roots, and higher-order roots. Simplify radical expressions by identifying perfect squares, cubes, and higher powers. Use prime factorization to simplify radicals. Identify and apply the conditions for rationalizing denominators. 2. Performing Operations with Radicals Add and subtract radical expressions by combining like terms. Multiply radicals using the distributive property and the FOIL method. Divide radicals and rationalize the denominator when necessary. 3. Applying Exponent Rules and Their Relationship to Radicals Recall and apply the fundamental exponent rules (product rule, quotient rule, power rule, zero exponent rule, and negative exponent rule). Convert between radical notation and rational exponent notation. Simplify expressions involving fractional (rational) exponents. 4. Solving Radical Equations Solve equations involving square roots and cube roots. Identify and eliminate extraneous solutions when solving radical equations. Apply inverse operations to isolate radical expressions in equations. 5. Graphing and Analyzing Radical Functions Graph square root and cube root functions. Identify key features of radical functions, including domain, range, intercepts, and transformations.
