In this ongoing one-on-one tutoring class your child will gain confidence as an English Learner and Speaker! We will begin with communication about your goals for your child and a quick assessment of your child's current English Language knowledge and skills* (as needed). From there, we will begin to build upon early literacy skills such as letters/sounds, sight words and building/reading words with short vowel sounds. We will also build English vocabulary and English conversational skills! This class will be tailored to fit your child based on skills that your child is ready to learn with guidance and encouragement! Through oral repetition, songs/chants, games, writing (when appropriate), TPR (Total Physical Response) and the use of props/visual aids we will practice skills and build confidence as an English Language Learner! *After enrolling your child, please send me as much information about your child's English language knowledge including strengths and areas for improvement. Also, please include your goals for your child's learning in this course. **If I do not receive information before class begins, the first class will be a quick assessment of your child's current English language knowledge/skills. *****If the class times available do not fit your schedule, please make a request!!!

Hello, my name is Sarah. I am a married mother of 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. I enjoy camping, reading, cooking and adventures with my family! My newest passions are gardening and homesteading and I am on a journey to learn all that I can about these new interests to apply to my life and my family! I consider myself a Lifelong Learner!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement. I am a certified K-5 teacher in the state of Michigan. I have been teaching for 15 years with experience in pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade! I taught at a Montessori school for 4 years and the rest of my teaching years have been in a public school setting. In 2019 I began a new adventure, teaching ESL online! I absolutely love the online platform and meeting students around the world! I strongly believe that everyone has the ability to achieve their goals with hard work and dedication! My role as a teacher is to facilitate, encourage and guide my students to be successful in their learning endeavors. I am so enthusiastic about getting young children engaged and excited to learn in all subject areas so, they too, can become lifelong learners with curiosity and persistence!!!
I absolutely love reading! Teaching reading through phonics and whole language is my passion! I believe that reading is an adventure that starts in the early years of life and needs to be fostered at every stage of development!
