Hello, thank you for taking a peek at my specialized private recorder lesson for 5 - 8-year-olds. This is a great first step to learning music notation and getting prepared for any instrument. I have taught private piano, music & recorder for ages 3 - adult as well as group lessons for over 30 years! My teaching style is fun, patient, and engaging. I like to present learning the notes and symbols of music in a way that is easy to remember. Rhythm is taught so it is internalized so it will come naturally to the learner. No prior knowledge is needed. This lesson is perfect for the early beginner and will set your child up for success in music! You can purchase soprano recorders on Amazon for under $10. No books are needed at first. I will send a song to print each week for your child to practice, along with a few music games to play. Instill a passion and knowledge of music so your learner can excel in any instrument they choose. My name is Sharon Gustin. I majored in Science and Music at SUNY Potsdam. I served as an Education Consultant at ‘Kindermusik’, working with PreK and Kindergarten teachers to learn how to implement Kindermusik, a literacy, and language curriculum that uses music as a vehicle for learning!
I have 30 years’ worth of experience teaching children in my OWN music studio, where I held “Little Musicians” classes for 3 - 5 years old. The immense popularity of these classes with the kids led me to extend them up to 9 years old because STUDENTS DID NOT WANT THE CLASS TO END.

My teaching style is fun and engaging. Using songs, rhymes, listening activities, and other school readiness activities, I incorporate all three approaches to learning (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to ensure every learner leaves class excited about what they have learned and craving to return to learn even more!
