This class is for learners who would like to practice individually with a certified teacher on any math concept or area. It can be for learners who need additional support and guidance or for learners who are ready to extend their mathematical thinking. I enjoy breaking down complex math concepts into easier to understand smaller parts. I focus on building learners mathematical number sense instead of memorizing algorithms or tricks, helping set them up to be more successful in math as concepts get more challenging. I encourage learners to bring assignments that they would like to review or have a math area that they would like to focus on. It is most helpful to know the area or assignment a day in advance. These could include writing and saying numbers, counting, skip counting, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, decimals, percentages, measurement, or problem solving. I will also create lessons and interactive materials for students to learn and practice.

I love teaching elementary math and science, which I have over 10 years of experience doing. I enjoy challenging myself to break down harder-to-understand math concepts into ways that students find relatable and engaging.
Professionally, I have been a public school teacher for over 8 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech. I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, from George Mason University. I also hold a valid Elementary Education professional teaching license in Virginia. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher (generalist, middle childhood).
In my free time, I enjoy baking, going on walks with my rescue pup, Tuula, and traveling. So far, I have traveled to 30 countries, even teaching in Uganda and Ukraine!レビュー
