Learners may be struggling to understand math concepts and one-on-one help with an experienced teacher could be the perfect solution.  Changes in their typical instructional program, such as learning on-line instead of through  hand-on instruction may have caused difficulty understanding a math concept. Parents and guardians are finding it hard to understand the methods used in some textbooks or they've simply forgotten some math skills. I can help to bridge this gap. This listing is a "One-Time" class. This would be a good way to determine how my online help could benefit your child. I could then schedule an "On-Going" class privately for enrolment or you could continue to sign up as needed.

 I will base my instruction on the topic(s) the learner is having difficulty mastering in their structured school math class. I will also observe general abilities and work at the level the child is at and then progress to the level his/her class may be at. I have discovered that sometimes basic math concepts were not mastered, causing more challenging ones to then seem impossible. By breaking skills down, I locate where the child is making his/her mistake and then teach from that point. I also make an effort to acknowledge correct work and math strengths whenever possible to give the learner a sense of accomplishment. 

I will use a white board to present notes, as needed, and to demonstrate math problems. I will expect the learner to solve the problem(s) on paper as I complete the work. I will also observe as the learner completes work on their own. My goal is to build the learner's confidence so that he/she will be able to work independently. 

I have experience teaching fourth through eighth grade math, including Prealgebra and Algebra, in a brick and mortar classroom for 20 years. I also have experience working with Zoom to tutor students, especially with Prealgebra and Algebra topics.
