Students can learn songs they like. I'll incorporate essential knowledge along the way. We can study rock, pop, country, hip-hop, jazz, classical music, Jimi Hendrix, Ed Sheeran, or anything in-between. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced learners. Accordingly, I encourage a greater understanding of music theory to foster real-world performance success. We may also draw from jazz or classical methodology. My professional music career began at age fifteen when I landed a gig in a Led Zeppelin cover band. It wasn't long before I was expanding my rock-and-roll knowledge with jazz, classical music, pop, and hip-hop. In 2003, I graduated cum laude from Purchase College with a dual degree in music and literature. I've been working as a freelance musician and teacher ever since. I have ten years of experience in narrative writing as well. In 2017, I was selected as a winner of T.A. Barron's Origin Story Contest.
I've found that private instruction serves individual needs best. So I like to teach one-on-one and adapt to address student goals.
