このクラスで学べること

In this class we will be learning and working on various pre-school skills mentioned above. This live class occurs daily to give your learners the structure and consistency they crave. Preschoolers will be learning about the world around them through hands-on activities. From mastering the letters of the alphabet to gross motor and sensory play, my goal is to give them a sense and feel of being in a physical pre-school. My lesson plans center around a specific theme focusing on interactive experiences.

Please note that this is not a "drop-off" online class. Because of the hands-on activities that I have planned, some parental involvement will be needed, mostly for crafting. (Just the same as there is adult supervision in a pre-school classroom). This class is perfect if you are new to homeschooling and you need to be guided with educational and engaging activities. Most materials needed to get started area all basic craft supplies: construction paper, card stock, glue, scissors and toys you might already have at home. You will need a printer as there will be PDF files to print for class needed on certain days.

This week's lesson theme is: COLORS. We will meet 5 times a week at the most. Each day's lesson is not built upon previous knowledge, so you can drop in and out as you please or as your time permits.

There will a lot of hands-on activities (read: they'll need materials and supplies) so please be ready to print out handouts for your learner and have materials ready so they will get the most from this class. I aim to re-create the experience of the children being in a physical pre-school.

In a nutshell, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays focus on literacy and language skills. Tuesdays and Thursdays focus on Math, Science or Social Studies. Each day may also touch on other pre-school skills through art and crafting (fine motor) and games/movement (gross motor skills).

It is recommended that the learners borrow the featured books from the library but it is not required. In my experience It just helps them connect with the lesson as they have a something familiar to associate it with. I will be sharing the book in class through my document camera, so please don't worry if you do not have a copy of the book.

The week will be broken down as follows:

Monday:
Featured book: Bear Sees Colors
Activities: Color movement game targeting gross motor and listening skills.
Color word collage targeting fine motor, art and sensory skills

Tuesday:
Featured book: Bear Sees Colors and Elmer
Activities: I Spy Colors targeting math and logic skills.
Color Ten Frame targeting math and fine motor skills.

Wednesday:
Featured book: Mouse Paint
Activities: Letter M Mouse targeting letter recognition, art, color mixing and theory'
Vowel Bingo targeting literacy skills

Thursday:
Featured book: A Color of His Own
Activities: Color Mixing Experiment targeting science and observation skills including cause and effect
Emotional Color Faces targeting social-emotional skills

Friday
Featured book: A Color of His Own
Activities: Clap if You're Wearing Blue targeting literacy.
Color Mixing Sensory Bottle targeting colors and sensory skills

Hi everyone! I’m Toni and I am a homeschooling mom. I have taught my kids, now 11 and 9, all core subjects. I am also a TESOL certified ESL teacher. I have taught almost 4,000 online classes in a span of two years. It's so heartwarming and humbling to know that I have educated over 13,000 Chinese students to date. I am excited to reach more students and teach what I love on the Outschool platform.

I also host educational live shows on another Chinese platform that can be viewed by hundreds of students all over China at one time. I teach anything that can help build their vocabulary and fluency such as: the seasons, weather, holidays & festivals, health & hygiene, parts of the house and even fun events in Texas.

I love bringing my lessons and classes to life. I truly believe that teaching is 1/4 preparation and 3/4 theatrics.

I have a BA in International Studies. My first job was at the United Nations headquarters in New York but I was always drawn to the hospitality industry. After a year at the UN, I switched careers and started my first hotel job at the iconic and landmark hotel, the Waldorf=Astoria, New York. 9 years later, I found myself at another luxury and historic property, this time in Canada, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. I started planning high-end meetings, conferences, parties and weddings.

It is this background of many years that has shaped my work ethic today. Working in the luxury sector requires you to always impress guests by going above and beyond their expectations. It is a hard habit to break. I have consciously or subconsciously applied this my teaching style. When I design lessons, I aim to bring a wow-factor for my students so that they are left with not just learning the information but having a memorable experience that will last way past the lesson.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy pursuing other interests like baking, antiquing, thrifting and dancing. I love baking treats with my kids and making more than plenty to give to neighbors and friends with pretty handmade packaging. I am a huge fan of flea markets and thrift stores. I enjoy the thrill of the find and being creative in repurposing and upcycling furniture. I am in love with Latin dance music. I learned how to dance the salsa when I lived in New York. I attended hundreds of social dance events in the city and even traveled to Palm Springs, Los Angeles and Miami for International Latin Dance conferences and workshops.

These days however, as a busy work from home mom, we are happy to ask Alexa play us some tunes and dance in the living room and kitchen.
