This class will prepare students for college level Introduction to Psychology by introducing the various sub-disciplines (e.g., Research Methods, Human Diversity, Emotions, Sensation and Perception, Cognition, Social Psychology, Intelligence, Disorders, Therapy, etc.) that are taught using "Introduction to Psychology" by Myers and DeWall 13th edition (2021). Additionally, this course will provide class material that can be extended to everyday living, meaning that students will also be able to apply their learning (e.g., operant conditioning, fear response, conformity, etc.) outside of the classroom environment (See All Topics Covered For More Information). This is an asynchronous class that will allow students to complete their work without depending on the schedule of the instructor. This class will have access to recordings and assignments for each topic. I will also provide video clips (YouTube) that show or exhibit the behaviors that we will be discussing each week. Additionally, I will provide assignments which are optional to complete; however, I will always have constructive comments to improve knowledge or provide additional information. My priority is the student's learning and to nurture their curiosity. Therefore, I will always make time to address any questions and clarify any material. Additionally, at the end of the course, students will have access to all of the PowerPoint materials for future reference. (Note: The students can watch the lectures on any day of the week; however, it is recommended that students watch one lecture per week). My goal is to prepare the students for college level classes and encourage critical thinking skills. Students in this course have two options. 1) complete the course without interacting with the instructor or students; and 2) complete the course while interacting with the instructor. This depends on the individual preference of the guardian and student. Students do not need any prior experience or knowledge. This course will build up each week. Importantly, it is okay to feel overwhelmed with information in the beginning of this course. I am condensing years of research and time spent on multiple sub-disciplines of Psychology into a 16 week course; however, I can assure you that students will feel competent with the material by the end of the course. All topics that will be covered are listed here: Week 1 (Wk 1): History and Research Methods (Wk 2): Nature and Human Diversity (Wk 3): Emotions and Stress (Wk 4): Memory (Wk 5): Biology (Wk 6): Sensation and Perception (Wk 7): Consciousness (Wk 8): Cognition and Learning (Wk 9): Lifespan Development (Wk 10): Social Psychology (Wk 11): Personality (Wk 12): Thinking (Wk 13): Intelligence (Wk 14): What Drives Us (Wk 15): Disorders (Wk 16): Therapy

保護者へのお知らせ
This course introduces many aspects of human behavior (e.g., culture, diversity, sexuality, development, etc.); however, guardians and students can message me for more information (or if students want to be excluded from a specific topic). Additionally, it is not my job to indoctrinate students but provide information. I will be providing an unbiased perspective.
受講に必要なもの
I will provide all materials for the students (assignments). Students will have access to college level quizzes and exams which can be graded without the risk of passing or failing a class. This will provide a great experience and prepare students for higher level exams. I will also provide instructions (at different difficulty levels) for the exams.
