このクラスで学べること

Join us as we check out three great books about farm animals -- two of which were illustrated by a 7-year-old homeschooler! -- then draw pictures of the animals we meet in the stories!

This three-part self-paced story time class centers around baby farm animals, focusing on goats, chickens, and llamas. Supplemented with plush animals, video lessons read the stories aloud, asking interactive questions about the text as we go. Lesson one is about goat kidding and baby animals. Lesson two is all about chickens, eggs, nesting, chicks, and baby farm animals. Lesson three is the true story of a llama lost on Pike's Peak and all the animals he meets along the way.

Each lesson also features a separate draw-along video, showing learners how to draw the heroes of our stories on their own. Learners are also encouraged to upload photos of their art in the classroom to share with others.

Lesson 1: "Are You Kidding?" (by Steph and Vivi Allosso) tells the story of Margo the goat and her babies. As we read, we'll figure out what kidding means, as well as discover what the other animals on the farm think about it.

Lesson 2: "Are You Brooding?" (by Steph and Vivi Allosso) tells the story of Gladys the chicken and her eggs. As we read, we will learn about and discuss the different farm animals in the book. We will also talk about some chicken terms, and meet the chicks after they hatch.

Lesson 3: "The Little Lost Llama" (by Marie Ballard, illustrated by Tracy Ducharme) tells the true story of Homer, the llama lost on Pike's Peak, Colorado.

This self-paced class does not have any live meetings. All content is uploaded via video or video link and available in the self-paced classroom.

Steph and Vivi Allosso (authors of "Are You Kidding?" and "Are You Brooding?") are a homeschool mom and her seven-year-old daughter. Tracy Ducharme (illustrator for "The Little Lost Llama") rescued and adopted Homer, then decided to illustrate his story in book form. Author Marie Ballard ("The Little Lost Llama") wrote the text. A great big thank you goes out to all the authors for granting their permission for their works to be used in this class!

My family has been homesteading for over 20 years, with plenty of chickens hatching on the farm; as well as goats, waterfowl, turkeys, cats, rabbits, dogs, and a peahen!
