In this three-day summer camp, students will create adorable miniature food sculptures using polymer clay. Students will learn essential polymer clay techniques such as conditioning, blending colors, sculpting, and baking. Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Polymer Clay - Fruits and VegetablesWe will start with introductions, then an overview of the processes, materials, and tools we will use in this course. Students will learn how to condition the clay and blend colors together, then try their hand at making some fruits and vegetables. After class, students will need an adult’s help to bake their projects in the oven.Lesson 2Shaping, Texture, and Layers - Pizza, Sushi, SandwichStarting with a demonstration on shaping and texturing techniques, students will begin to create more complicated food such as pizza, sushi, burgers, noodles, onigiri, eggs, an ice cream cone, or other foods of the student’s imagination. After class, students will need an adult’s help to bake their projects in the oven.Lesson 3Finishing Things Up - Fruit Bowl, Birthday Cake, Ramen with ToppingsOur final day of class will start with a quick demo on finishing and painting, as well as a few other ways to work with polymer clay. Students will challenge themselves to make their most complicated foods yet! These might include a bowl of ramen with multiple toppings, a basket of assorted tropical fruits, or a tiered birthday cake.

Teresa Audet has a Master degree in Fine Art with a focus on three-dimensional art and woodworking. She teaches sculpting with polymer and air-dry clay to students online and in person.
A detailed supply list will be sent out to students upon enrollment. Students will need: Polymer clay in multiple colors ($12-$20) (I recommend https://shrsl.com/4ioct) Thin metal ruler, blade, small scissors, or paring knife for cutting clay Toothpicks, chopsticks, pencils, and other small rounded tools for shaping clay Flat, plastic or metal surface for working on Optional tools: shaped cutters, a straw, a plastic spoon, paintbrushes Optional tools: clay roller ($9) (http://shrsl.com/4iocv)
This class requires the use of a metal blade to cut the clay. Students will need assistance in baking their projects (detailed instructions given, and is not absolutely required)
