In this three-day summer camp, students will create adorable miniature food sculptures using polymer clay. Students will learn essential polymer clay techniques such as conditioning, blending colors, sculpting, and baking. Week 1Lesson 1Starting With the BasicsOur first lesson will cover an overview of the processes, materials, and tools we will use in this course. Students will learn how to condition the clay and blend colors together to make marbled blends.Lesson 2Making BeadsThis lesson will focus on making different kinds of beads. Students will make a variety of beads in a few different shapes, sizes, and colors or patterns. We will discuss turning the beads into jewelry and thinking about design. After class, students will need an adult’s help to bake their projects in the oven.Lesson 3Finishing Our BraceletsIn our final lesson, we will start by sharing our favorite beads that we have made so far. Students may continue to make beads, and we will focus on putting everything together into a finished bracelet. Students will learn how to string beads onto a cord and fasten it with a knot or a clasp.
- Students will learn the basics of working with polymer clay, how to blend colors and create a marbled effect, and how to create beads and charms for a bracelet.
Teresa Audet has a Master degree in Fine Art with a focus on three-dimensional art and woodworking. She teaches sculpting with polymer and air-dry clay to students online and in person.
A detailed supply list will be sent out to students upon enrollment. Supplies will be average $15 - $30 and many tools can be found around the home.
