In-class assessment: The teacher will observe, question, and seek to understand general music knowledge, musical selections, and performance techniques related to the drum kit and be an active guide in the learners' skill development toward mastery of independent, efficient playing and decision-making. Post-class assessment: Before the class ends, we will spend 2 -3 minutes on the go-forward plan for skill development and areas to focus on. Taught by experienced instructors for both music and sports, this course blends entertainment with education. Our curriculum aims to provide the participants with the skills necessary to master the xylophone while enjoying the upbeat and engaging music associated with entertainment. The music is challenging, unique, and bring reputable teaching methods and proven musical techniques. From beloved pop songs to nostalgic ballpark tunes, and melodies that can be played on any instrument at any age, we also look to create your own melodies if time allows. This makes the xylophone a versatile instrument and, with progress, you can begin incorporating chords and accompaniments when we introduce our "Rolling with Chromatics and 4 Mallets" course. By the end of this course, you will not only have a repertoire of fun-themed music, but also the confidence and skills to accompany yourself or collaborate with fellow musicians.

For over a decade, Laura has provided music instruction across all instruments and ensembles for PreK through high school. Her students have gone on to successful careers, with many performing in music. Laura's greatest skills is her interdisciplinary vision of learning one instrument and effectively transferring that understanding to many other instruments have served me well as a school music educator.
