To learn the letter-sound correspondences of the alphabetic code and how to use them to read and write words.
To practice blending and segmenting sounds to decode and encode words of different lengths and structures.
To recognize and produce rhyming words and word families that share the same ending sound and spelling.
To learn what digraphs are and to segment some of these for reading and writing.
To learn what trigraphs and homophones are and use this knowledge to support reading.
