弁論術：話す際の雄弁さ

This follow up class to Speak Up! Introduction to Public Speaking,  picks up where the first class ends. Following our discussion on the types of speeches, overcoming fears and practical tips all learned in Speak Up! Intro to Public Speaking, this class will delve deeper into different types of speaking opportunities. Though not required, it will be of benefit to the student to have taken Speak Up! An Introduction to Public Speaking, before this class. 

This class will begin with an understanding of the concept of Oratory and the role it plays in today's day and age. The eloquence and confidence of the speaker will be discussed during this course as an essential life skill.  The weekly plan will include in-class lecture, discussion, guided writing, role play and some group work. There will be weekly homework assigned in class that students will need to complete during the week.  Students will be required to write various types of speeches and perform them in class the following week. All details, expectations and scaffolding will be provided by the teacher. 

Week 1: Introductions, discuss types of speeches, delivery techniques and Impromptu Speeches. Students perform Impromptu speeches in class.
Week 2: Skills and Planning - Writing Argumentative Speeches. Format, structure and best practices when writing Argumentative speeches.
Week 3: Deliver Argumentative Speeches- students will showcase their assigned homework. 
Week 4: Art of storytelling- Dramatic Speeches. Deliver Dramatic Speeches in class after discussion on body language, facial expressions and vocal skills.
