According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the veterinary field is expected to grow by 18% between now and 2028. 2025, they also predicted avian vet care to grow 19% in the next 9 years! Wow! The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, European College of Zoological Medicine, and the Australian Veterinary Boards Council all certify in the specialty of avian medicine. And according to the World Animal Foundation, there are currently 46,000 veterinarians in the United States with less than 150 of those worldwide being Avian Veterinarians.

I'm ready to explore with you and therefore I created something specific and unique for you. In all of my research, I have found many bird and ornithology courses focusing on zoology and the uniqueness of birds. What I haven't found for kids of your age, is a vet-focused course on avian care. I am excited to bring you this first-of-its-kind class!

This class is not a "fluff" class. This class not only takes an in-depth look at vet care, body parts and how those body parts work, this class also provides students with tips for proper husbandry at home, starting with the truth about ownership of various types of birds. Not all birds make great pets for all families. Great health care of our pets starts at home, and any veterinarian knows prevention is the greatest first step.

So come with me to learn about body systems, anatomy & physiology, care and husbandry, and the veterinary science of our avian pets and wildlife. Each week, learning goals will change, however I have added goals into the appropriate section.

⭐ Notes: ⭐

🔺 To follow US Law and OS Policy, I will not diagnose nor provide medical advice to students or parents. Advice will always be to see your local vet.
◼ *1 Bird Evolution: This topic has been asked commonly by my current students of all ages, 6-18. While I do not usually teach the theory of evolution, this particular section does not debate if evolution is fact or fallacy. Rather, we review several pieces of evidence scientists use to discover a possibility of how birds came to be what we see today.
◼ Many students have taken their age VET CLUB class first. Links are in my profile.
