Parents should be nearby to help with any technology issues but do not necessarily need to sit with their child. As always, parents are welcome to sit off camera with their learner if they wish or their child needs additional support.

Students who attend this class should either be currently enrolled in 4th grade OR currently in 3rd Grade and be successful with 3rd grade curriculum and are ready for more complex math. This class is also appropriate for students who have completed 4th grade math already but are struggling with math concepts.

Hello! Thank you for stopping by my page. I am Teacher Elizabeth. I am a licensed K-12 Special Education Teacher with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have worked in a large urban school district for over 25 years. Most of that time was spent in a fifth grade classroom. But after working with young children on Outschool I decided to move to K-2 special education. I love making learning accessible for all students. I take pride in finding a way to connect with and educate even the most reluctant learners. I have taught students who are significantly below grade level to advanced over the years. My academic approach is to informally evaluate my students' strengths and weaknesses. I then meet my students where they are academically and build on those strengths. I have had training using multiple different instructional programs. I do not use any one method in my instruction, but blend together what works best for that individual student.

In addition to my classroom experience, I spent two years teaching students English as a Foreign Language online and am in my fourth year on Outschool! I love having the opportunity to connect with families on the other side of the world. I look forward to getting to know even more families through Outschool.

My Outschool focus is teaching beginning reading including sightwords, phonics, and fluency for both young students and older learners who need remediation. I also have a series of math classes that are based on grade level skills. These classes can be used to reinforce/reteach concepts or act as a front line instruction for a student just being introduced to the topic.

As a mother of four, I value the balance of education and family. I strive to make learning at home fun and enriching so academic time is something your learner will look forward to! I also want to make sure each and every child experiences success in the classroom.

I am no stranger to learning on the go! A few years ago, my husband and I loaded our kids up in an RV and spent our summer driving across the county visiting national parks along the way. This was a wonderful and enriching trip for all of us.

I look forward to bringing the best out of your child. I hope to see you in the classroom!
