In this October themed STEM challenge, students will plan, build and test their own 3-D structures in order to build the tallest tower. Prior to building their structure, students will learn the basics of 3-D shapes such as pyramids, cubes and prisms. Using this knowledge, students will and build their towers with toothpicks and candy corn pumpkins. A ruler or measuring tape will be used to measure the height of the structure. After each test build, students will reflect on their design and decide if modifications need to be made to their structure. Learners will reflect on their designs and discuss what worked or didn't work with their classmates at the end of the class. Who can build the tallest tower? Who's tower was the most stable? Challenge ON!!

In 2007, I graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English and a certification in Elementary K-6 Education. I am also certified to teach Gifted Lerners and English as a Second Language.
