This is a 8 week class where the students will read through chapters of The Battle of the Labyrinth each week. Each class we will be discussing the chapters we read, going over vocabulary for the chapters and answering discussion questions. Every student will need a copy of The Battle of the Labyrinth: Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan and each week they will need to read the chapters before the next class. Students are expected to actively participate during class and with the assigned reading and discussion questions each week.

Students will learn to establish and share their own thoughts while reading a book. We will be looking at new vocabulary for each of the chapters. Discussing what we think about what has happened, is happening and will happen as we move through the book.

In The Battle of the Labyrinth again there is a lot of action and fighting. The book starts out with Percy dealing with demon cheerleaders at school. Percy and his friends also have to deal with fighting many different monsters and other half-bloods. Things happen in the Labyrinth and the others at Camp Halfblood think that Percy is dead. Percy comes back to his funeral and the others are happy to see him alive. The group has to battle the Titan forces and some monsters they helped along the way come to help the kids win the battle. In this book we learn more about Nico the son of Hades and he is trying to reincarnate his sister Bianca. Words like 'butt', 'sucks' and Hades is used like 'hell' would be today.

Hi I am Teacher Kaylyn and I have been working with children in many different ways for over 15 years in many different ways. Most recently I have taught online for online since 2019, teaching ESL and here on Outschool. I have a 6 year old son and I am used to high energy fun. I love to make learning fun and I want to share my interests with others. Since I do have a young son I love to teach young students. It is great when they figure something out and you can see something click. I love to read and I really like to do book studies to share that love with others. I have learned that to start a passion for reading you need to find the right books that you can't put down. I want to help others to their own books they are passionate about.
